Training and licensingTraining

Training provided by the Finnish Transport Safety Agency

The Finnish Transport Safety Agency offers many different types of training. Training is provided e.g. to flight examiners for obtaining an authorisation, to the Finnish airport operator and air navigation services provider Finavia, and to employees of the Finnish Aeronautical Association who assist the Finnish Transport Safety Agency in sport aviation oversight.

The Finnish Transport Safety Agency trains authorised flight examiners as well as sport aviation supervisors designated by the Finnish Aeronautical Association. Basic training is mandatory for flight examiners. The Finnish Transport Safety Agency also provides continuation training, which is not mandatory but is in practice carried out by all flight examiners.

Some of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency's training is directed to aviation companies and organisations. This training often deals with aviation regulations, and is particularly intended for responsible persons in training organisations.

Training is organised at the Finnish Transport Safety Agency's discretion when needed. The Agency invites such persons to attend the training for whom it considers the training necessary.

Theoretical instruction and specialist training

The Finnish Transport Safety Agency offers various courses to Finavia, Avia College (Finavia’s training institute) and to the Finnish airports. The courses include theoretical instruction and specialist training, such as air traffic controller training and training for the transport of dangerous goods.
